Recommendations for collecting quality data about participation changes

What is it?

PeRSEVERE principle M1 (“Informative data collection about participation changes”) explains the features of good quality data about participation changes.

To explore this further, a project involving some of those involved in the PeRSEVERE project was done to review what data study teams tend to collect about participation changes, and to make recommendations for what good practice looks like. The plan for this project, and slides summarising the project’s results, can be accessed via the Open Science Framework.

The project developed 25 detailed recommendations, covering aspects such as the timing and urgency of collecting data on participation changes, what data to collect if study participants die or lose capacity to consent while taking part, and how to manage data on reasons for participation changes.
